Spektakl „Nosferatu – dziennik zarazy” opowiada historię tajemniczej choroby, która ogarnia mieszkańców miasta po przybyciu tytułowego bohatera. Twórcy, posługując się autorską techniką kina manualnego i lalkami cieniowymi, snują refleksję nad współczesnym społeczeństwem – zawieszonym między życiem a bezwładem, niczym żywe trupy. Widowisko prezentowane jest w teatralnej przyczepie, która zmienia się w intymny gabinet grozy.

Głów­ną in­spi­ra­cją do po­wsta­nia wi­do­wi­ska “Nos­fe­ra­tu - dzien­nik za­ra­zy”, był film “Nos­fe­ra­tu - sym­fo­nia gro­zy” w re­ży­se­rii Frie­dri­cha Wil­hel­ma Mur­nau, do któ­re­go sce­na­riusz na­pi­sał Hen­rik Ga­le­en. Była to pierw­sza ekra­ni­za­cja in­spi­ro­wa­na po­wie­ścią Bra­ma Sto­ke­ra “Dra­ku­la”.

W swo­jej in­ter­pre­ta­cji i in­sce­ni­za­cji tego te­ma­tu chcie­li­śmy pod­kre­ślić zja­wi­sko za­ra­zy. Za­gad­ko­wej cho­ro­by, na któ­rą ma­so­wo za­pa­da­ją miesz­kań­cy Wis­bor­ga. Od chwi­li po­ja­wie­nia się Nos­fe­ra­tu w mie­ście, wie­lu jego miesz­kań­ców za­pa­da na do­le­gli­wość, któ­ra po­le­ga na tym, że le­wi­tu­ją oni mię­dzy ży­ciem a śmier­cią.

W spek­ta­klu za po­mo­cą mo­no­chro­ma­tycz­nych form cie­nio­wych, za­czerp­nię­tych wprost z fil­mu Mur­nau, w tech­ni­ce kina ma­nu­al­ne­go - przy po­mo­cy ręcz­nie prze­su­wa­nej rol­ki fo­lii - “ta­śmy fil­mo­wej”, spo­koj­nie i z dy­stan­sem opo­wia­da­my tę hi­sto­rię po swo­je­mu.

Spek­takl jest zre­ali­zo­wa­ny w au­tor­skiej tech­ni­ce kina ma­nu­al­ne­go. Rol­ka fil­mo­wa jest wpra­wia­na w ruch przez dło­nie ak­to­ra, a na ekra­nie wy­stę­pu­ją lal­ki cie­nio­we. Bar­dzo cie­ka­wym za­bie­giem jest rów­nież kre­acja pola gry - miej­sca, w któ­rym re­ali­zu­je­my spek­takl. Za­mknię­cie pu­blicz­no­ści w ma­łej prze­strze­ni sprzy­ja wy­wo­ła­niu wra­że­nia prze­by­wa­nia w ga­bi­ne­cie stra­chów, po­tę­gu­je emo­cje… i oba­wę przed za­ra­zą, któ­ra jest na ze­wnątrz.

The performance “Nosferatu – Diary of the Plague” is inspired by F.W. Murnau’s film and tells the story of a mysterious disease that spreads among the townspeople after the arrival of the titular character. Using a unique manual cinema technique and shadow puppets, the creators reflect on modern society – suspended between life and inertia, like the living dead. The show is presented inside a theatrical trailer that transforms into an intimate chamber of horrors.

The main in­spi­ra­tion for the show “Nos­fe­ra­tu - a dia­ry of the pla­gue”, was the film “Nos­fe­ra­tu - A Sym­pho­ny of Hor­ror”, di­rec­ted by Frie­drich Wil­helm Mur­nau, for which Hen­rik Ga­le­en wro­te the scre­en­play. It was the first film ad­ap­ta­tion in­spi­red by Bram Sto­ker's no­vel “Dra­cu­la”.

In our in­ter­pre­ta­tion of this the­me, we wan­ted to hi­gh­li­ght the phe­no­me­non of pla­gue. A my­ste­rio­us di­se­ase af­fec­ting all Wis­borg re­si­dents. From the mo­ment Nos­fe­ra­tu ap­pe­ars in the town, many of its in­ha­bi­tants have de­ve­lo­ped an ail­ment that ma­kes them le­vi­ta­te be­twe­en life and de­ath. By day, they are dra­ined of ener­gy and apa­the­tic, una­ble to act. At ni­ght, they come to life for a whi­le, only to fall back into le­thar­gy. In our per­for­man­ce we are not de­aling with the es­sen­ce of vam­pi­rism, but with con­tem­po­ra­ry so­cie­ties li­ving like zom­bies.

In the per­for­man­ce, mo­no­chro­me sha­dow forms, ta­ken di­rec­tly from Mur­nau's film, using the tech­ni­que of ma­nu­al ci­ne­ma - with the help of a hand-mo­ved roll of foil: a “film tape” - we calm­ly and with a di­stan­ce tell the sto­ry in our own way. We bring the cha­rac­ters and the sto­ry­li­ne to life in or­der to con­si­der whe­ther we, the in­ha­bi­tants of con­tem­po­ra­ry Wis­borg, are ali­ve, or are we sim­ply still un­de­ad…?
